Earlier this month, I drove with my friends Ross and Dave to Death Valley National Park in Eastern California to photograph the desert. We did this on a whim and with only one day to drive there and back to catch sunrise and sunset in that same day. It was a long drive and a very long day but we managed to fit nearly everything in that we intended to. I was taken by surprise at the beauty of this park. I've been to a few national and state parks including Grand Canyon and Arches National Parks but, in my opinion, Death valley is at least equally as impressive.

You might have known that Death Valley is the driest, hottest, and lowest place in North America but did you know that at over 3 million acres, it is also one of the largest national parks in the U.S.? The other 5 largest parks are all in Alaska including Denali. Death Valley exists mostly in California but also in a small corner of Nevada not far from Las Vegas.
