Get a Discount on Photoshop CS5 or Photoshop CS5 Extended by Joining NAPP

Where everyone learns Photoshop - National Association of Photoshop Professionals

This week I was visiting a website that I frequently do for Photoshop help and while I was browsing the site, I was reminded of the discounts that being a member offers me. The organization, whose site I was visiting, is the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, or NAPP. You can visit their website at www.PhotoshopUser.com. I joined NAPP several months back and have been using their online photoshop resources regularly. I love having access to a huge library of tutorials that grows in number daily. Even though I have great book resources that I also use regularly, like those mentioned in my latest article about Photoshop CS5, sometimes it's nice just to go to a website, enter a quick search string, and watch a video explain a particular Photoshop technique that I need help with. It doesn't hurt that the folks at NAPP are some of the top photographers and digital artists in the world. I've grown tremendously in my knowledge and application of Photoshop as a result. Here's an example of the high quality tutorial videos offered there.

The reason I'm writing about this is to share this opportunity with my readers and to give you, the reader, an opportunity to hear about NAPP from someone who actually uses it regularly and truly benefits from many of its perks. My hope is that, if you are a Photoshop user or are considering a purchase of Photoshop CS5 in the future, by the end of this article you might consider joining me at NAPP.

When I consider joining a professional organization, naturally I want to know upfront what joining will get for me. In other words, will I get enough value every year to make the cost of joining worth while. I'll let you decide about NAPP for yourself after seeing what they offer below.

One of the discounts that NAPP membership offers is 15% off ALL Adobe products. Let's take a look at how a 1 year membership fee of $100 would come right back to you with a purchase of the new Photoshop CS5:

Photoshop CS5
- 15% NAPP Discount
Final Price

Photoshop CS5 Extended
- 15% NAPP Discount
Final Price
$700
$105 ($105 discount - $100 NAPP 1 YR Membership = $5 cash back)
$595

$1,000
$150 ($150 discount - $100 NAPP 1 YR Membership = $50 cash back)
$850

In either case, your NAPP membership pays for itself and still puts extra money in your pocket. In other words, if you were already going to purchase Photoshop CS5, then you will actually be making money by signing up for NAPP first, and then taking your NAPP discount on Photoshop CS5 or Photoshop CS5 Extended. And that's without taking advantage of any of the other NAPP benefits and discounts.

Other Perks:
  • Eight Issues of Photoshop User Magazine - These are Jam-Packed with Tips and Tutorials
  • Discounts on Adobe, Apple, Fotoflōt, B&H; Photo Video, Adorama, Office Depot, Animoto, Topaz Labs (HDR Software), OnOne Software, Alien Skin Software, Nik Software, Photomatix (HDR Software), Conference Discounts, even Discounts on Hotels and Car Rentals
  • Unlimited Access to a Watermark Creator to Protect Your Images
  • Free Texture Every Two Weeks
  • Loads of Free Clip Art
  • Deep Discounts on Books and DVDs
  • Tech Support on Photoshop, Lightroom, and Photo Gear Help, Equipment Advice and More from Certified Experts
  • Lots of Great Resources like How/Where to Insure Your Gear and Jobs in Related Fields
As you can tell, you get quite a lot for the cost of membership. The only challenge will be deciding where to start.

One extra incentive for joining NAPP:
NAPP is offering an additional incentive to join by giving away a free instructional DVD to those who enter the coupon code 'FRIEND' at checkout. This DVD is titled, "The Best of Photoshop User: The Tenth Year". This DVD discusses the most popular tutorials and requested techniques for Photoshop from the magazine's 11th year and includes tips for Photoshop, Lightroom, and Camera Raw. This DVD is produced every year...it's a hit and you won't want to pass up the opportunity to have it for free.
One closing thought...one concern that I hear raised by photographers and aspiring photographers alike is how complicated and overwhelming Photoshop can seem to the beginner. I can relate to feeling that way when I first started out learning to use Photoshop. However, the reality is that this tool offers features that no other tool in the world offers together in one package and learning to use it well will most certainly increase not only your productivity but, most importantly, your passion for the art of imaging. I hope you will join me at NAPP in taking this art form to the next level.
